Read the paytable before comparing themes

A slot’s help screen identifies the symbols, winning arrangements and stake units used by that particular version. Some games describe fixed paylines; others use ways or groups of matching symbols. The same-looking symbol can serve different roles across titles, so start with the written rules instead of transferring assumptions from another game.

Reels, ways and clusters are different descriptions

A payline is a defined path through positions. A ways system describes qualifying symbol combinations across reels, while a cluster game groups symbols under its own adjacency rules. These labels explain how wins are recognised. They do not, by themselves, tell you how often a session will return money or how much a particular round will pay.

Separate the base round from optional features

Wild symbols, scatters, cascades and free-spin features have title-specific conditions. Read what activates a feature, whether multipliers persist and whether an optional feature purchase changes the amount at risk. Understand RTP and volatility in context

Keep promotional rules separate
